100-acre fire burning in Pueblo County


Firefighters are battling a 100-acre fire in eastern Pueblo County Thursday, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office first reported the 209 fire on X at 12:41 p.m. and said in a 2:18 p.m. update the fire is at 100 acres with 50% containment.

The fire is burning south of Colorado 96 near Boone, but neither the town nor any structures are threatened as of Thursday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.

At least 13 agencies have responded to the fire, which is burning grass and is spreading to trees in the Arkansas River bottom.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
